In recent years, there has been a lot of change to the tail side of the coin. There has been a lot of change for the common coin collectors who have these coins sitting on their dressers. Maybe this was planned so that there could be more quarters added to the system to replace all the silver quarters that have been sucked out over the years. This has made it kind of rare to find these silver gems, that for the most part have way more value than most of the tail changed quarters of recent years. It is like the poppy coin that I do kind of like. Yet, if you offered me a trade for a cougar pre 1967 centennial quarter which is worth about two and a half dollars at today’s prices just for the silver content and depending on the grade of it, I would give you 8 Canada poppy quarters for one of those pre 1967 coins in any year. Even if there is not that many silver quarters around to find, they are at least affordable to buy yet. Who knows, maybe they will be worth 10 dollars in five years if the spot price of silver keeps moving up at the same pace that it has move up in the past 5 years, coming up from that 5 dollars a troy oz to the15-25 dollar range of the last few years.
1967 Quarter Value Error
Sep 21, 2017 Not only is this rare coin a proof, meaning that it is a special early sample of a coin issue, but it was also cast on top of a 1941 Canadian quarter (hence the 1941 mark on its tail side.).
